The Cadillac ATS is an upcoming compact luxury sedan from Cadillac.[1] Currently, General Motors considers ATS a "codename" for the model, which means the final production name may change. It will be smaller than the Cadillac CTS, but roughly the size of the ELR, and is intended to compete with the Audi A4, Lexus IS, Mercedes-Benz C-class, and BMW 3 series. Cadillac presented an ATS concept coupe to automotive journalists on August 11, 2009.[2]
The ATS will be launched in mid-2012 as a 2013 model. It will debut as a four-door sedan with rear wheel drive, based on the new GM Alpha platform. Reports have indicated that coupe and all-wheel drive versions may follow. Styling has been described as consistent with Cadillac's Art and Science theme, and GM has released a teaser side-view image of the car.
Reportedly, the base engine will be a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder, with an optional 2.0 liter turbo D.I VVT 4-cylinder and the 3.6 liter D.I. VVT V-6.[3] [4]
